The teapots are made by a studio called Hidden Mountain run by two young artists in Jingdezhen, one of the influential pottery centers in the world. They devote themselves to reforming the teaware in breathtakingly creative ways instead of following the tradition slavishly. Their crafts are admired by the unique embossing developed on their own ,adding another dimension to the way we think of traditional Chinese art .
Each teapot is made with black glaze, coloring the pot glossy black and matte black with mottled effect as a result of different temperature applied throughout the teapot. It also features the white mountain motif embossed on the surface of metallic black providing visual and textural contrast. The pot has an extreme thin but strong spout which textures like metal.
There are two shapes available in stock. Please refer to the photos to confirm your option. Each teapot has a capacity of 150ml making it ideal for intimate or sharing tea ceremony. Multi-holes filter strains the tea in the spout which ensures a smooth pour without any drips. The widely-stretched handle provides pleasure to hold the teapot and pour out the tea easily. The teapot also features thick body which helps to retain the heat well. With short spout and strong clay, the teapot is not easily broken which is ideal for tea-brewing during travel.
Please note that as the teapot is not glazed on the inside , we suggest the user of the teapot devote it to a kind of tea for better “nourishing”. Therefore the taste of tea will be improved gradually after long-term brewing the same tea in the teapot. For these reasons, it shall not be washed using detergents, but rather water only.
