The gaiwan is hand thrown and hand painted by the same artist Ma , based in Jingdezhen. As a young potter and painter, Ma likes to free his mind from the traditional objects painting to incorporate the modern simplicity. Even though Ma’s painting is not  as exquisite as you see in those handpainted teacups of our shop, the design inspired by the nature or routine life definitely reflects his thoughts of life and great creation to the tradition.

Made of rough clay, the gaiwan is textured with uneven bumps and flower edge of the body, giving an interesting touch. Throughout there are black spots as a result of iron content in the clay. The gaiwan features the three hand-pained  scenes where a kitty is drinking tea for a break separately, depicting slowly and peaceful vibes which the tea truly brings to our life. If you are obsess   about a kitty , how can you miss this lovely gaiwan ?

The gaiwan holds approximately 140ml of liquid featuring thick body which helps to retain the heat well . Pinched out slightly, the rim is extremely easy to pour out the tea, and thin enough to prevent the fingers from the heat as well. The glazed interior makes all teas available for brewing in those gaiwans.

Note: The gaiwan is designed originally by Chasing Tea . In pursuit of incorporating the routine life with the tea ware we are using every day, we are aimed to make a design with those elements that often appear in our daily life. If life is art, we all are artists then.
