Set A:a Gaiwan + 2 cups
Set B: a Gaiwan + 4 cups
The gaiwan is accomplished by a young couple based in Jingdezhen, with male throwing and glazing the gaiwan , and female painting it. The couple is committed to crafting Fenyin (white slip glaze) potteries by incorporating contemporary art as much as they can.
The strawberry gaiwan is made of rough clay with the texture grained and bumpy, and finished with transparent glaze throughout before being painted , turning vitrified and offering pleasure to touch. It features the handpainted strawberry across the whole gaiwan , making the teaset full of life and giving an lively visual experience.
The gaiwan holds approximately 110ml of liquid featuring thick body which helps to retain the heat well. Pinched out slightly, the rim is extremely easy to pour out the tea and thin enough to prevent the fingers from the heat as well. The glazed interior makes all teas available for brewing in those gaiwans. We offer some teacups together with the gaiwan at the same style. If you are keen for a set, and please refer to the photos for more details.
Note: The gaiwan is designed originally by Chasing Tea . In pursuit of incorporating the routine life with the tea ware we are using every day, we are aimed to make a design with those elements that often appear in our daily life. With a few weeks of waiting since we gave our design and concept to the couple, the first strawberry gaiwan set was finally accomplished successfully though a few times of unpleasing trials was hitting us pretty hard previously. If life is art, we all are artists then.
