The two teacups are handmade by a skilled potter Wu in Jindezhen who has engaged in making potteries for 27 years since his young apprenticeship. Looking through his wood-fired potteries , we are impressed by the uncommon appearance of his work of art which reflects fully his bumble personality and endless effort in extending the range of wood-fired possibilities .
Made of unglazed white ceramic, the surface of each cup turns brilliant and glossy after interaction with ash of wood in a complicated firing process. Both teacups are textured with milky way speckles around the body, providing a lovely interplay of various colors like pale purple, white, bluish-purple and so on with pronounced faint crackles around the body.
Cup A is characterised by the whole green base which is not common during firing effect. Topped with “snowflakes” , the inside surface presents a stunning gradation of colors between light green, light orange and dark purple.
Without many colours blended, Cup B has subtle and contemporary touch comparing with cup A, making no sounds in your tea table. The inside surface gradates from dark purple to white with multiple faint crackles which will deepen with using.
Both teacups approximately hold liquid of 90ml separately. The thin rim of each cup prevents the fingers from heat. We hereby offer these two cups with rare patterns for you and recommend referring to the photos for the exact one you are interested in.
