The small woodfired Kyusu is made by the soda woodfiring expert , Mupu Studio (click here for more details about Mupu).
Made of ceramic, the kyusu is characterised by the vitrified and refined white surface with subtle brown spots running round the pot, created by the ash in soda woodfiring kiln with 1350℃ for roughly 35h. On closer inspection, there are faint cracks spreading throughout, making the Kyushu simple but elegant.
The Kyusu holds approximately 100ml liquid making it a good option for a solo tea session. Multi-holes ball filter strains the tea in the spout which ensures a smooth pour without any drips.
Please note that as the kyusu is not glazed on the inside , we suggest the user of the kyusu devote it to a kind of tea for better “nourishing”. Therefore the taste of tea will be improved gradually after long-term brewing the same tea in the kyusu. For these reasons, it shall not be washed using detergents, but rather water only.
