Set A: a gaiwan + 2 teacups
Set B: a gaiwan+ a faircup +2 teacups
The gaiwan is made by a studio called Hidden Mountain run by two young artists in Jingdezhen, one of the influential pottery centers in the world. They devote themselves to reforming the teaware in breathtakingly creative ways instead of following the tradition slavishly. Their crafts are admired by the unique embossing developed on their own, adding another dimension to the way we think of traditional Chinese art .
The gaiwan is made with unique navy blue glaze, which blinks in the sunlight after being watered. It features the white sea waves motif embossed at the bottom of the body and lid, providing visual and textural contrast. Another point worth drawing your attention is the golden circle at the top of the lid, lighting up the gaiwan and giving aesthetic enhancement. The interior is applied with transparent celadon liner glaze with faint cracks which will deepen with use.
The gaiwan holds 120m of liquid roughly featuring thick and strong body which helps to retain the heat well and prevents it from being broken easily, which is ideal for using during travel. As the interior is glazed, all teas are available for brewing in this gaiwan. We offer two teacups or/and a fair cup together with the gaiwan if you are keen for a set, and please refer to the photos for more details.
