Set A:a gaiwan + 2 matching cups
Set B:a gaiwan + 2 matching cups +a faircup
The shino gaiwan is handmade by a female potter, Fan based in Jingdezhen, who has committed herself to study shino glaze for 10 years. Her pottery can be mainly divided into two series, one is Moss series and the other is Ink series which are distinguished easily from many shino pieces in the market.
That gaiwan is from Fan’s Moss series. The gaiwan is stunning with the surprising greenish-yellow dots on the lid to appear like moss in the wild which will be able to turn vibrant and glitter in the strong light. Black patches are spread throughout with faint crackles covering the inside and outside to the fullest , adding another layer of interest.
The gaiwan holds approximately 120ml of liquid featuring a thick body which helps to retain the heat well. Pinched out slightly, the rim is extremely easy to pour out the tea and thin enough to prevent the fingers from the heat as well. As the inside is not glazed, we recommend dedicating it to a kind of tea to help improve the taste of the same tea with long-term use, as most zisha teapots are treated.
