The teacup is handmade by a skilled potter Wu in Jingdezhen who has engaged in making potteries for 27 years since his young apprenticeship. Looking through his wood-fired potteries , we are impressed by the uncommon appearance of his work of art which reflects fully his bumble personality and endless effort in extending the range of wood-fired possibilities .
Being fired for 3 days and nights in the kiln, the unglazed white teacup turns out complex of surface with micro crackles across the body which looks like multiple mini islands spreading in the sea. Textured with drippings of brown and white on the inside as well as the outside, the teacup manifests a nice visual and textural contrast. The inside features a brilliant interplay between green, purple-blue and brown coloring , providing aesthetic enhancement for the overall cup.
The teacup holds 115ml of liquid. Even though the rim is thin, we still recommend filling the cup with hot tea at less than 2/3 volume as the rim is pinched in. Otherwise, full filling may be too hot to hold the teacup .
