MupuThe teapot is handmade by an accomplished soda-firing studio called Mupu (check here to learn about Mupu).
The teapot’s honeycomb-like appearance just captured us at first sight , with small hollows covering the whole body , which are cut off the wet pot one after another by hand. Gong through a wood soda fired kiln with 1350℃ for roughly 35h, the ash deposit painted the teapot with red hue at half of the teapot and creates a subtle speckled effect of red spot on grey at another half, lovely but balanced. With soda, the teapot is stunning with the vitrified surface covered by fine cracks throughout.
The teapot has a capacity of 150ml making it ideal for intimate or sharing tea ceremony. Multi-holes filter strains the tea in the spout which ensures a smooth pour without any drips. The teapot has a pleasure to hold and pour out the tea easily.
Please note that as the teapot is not glazed on the inside , we suggest the user of the teapot devote it to a kind of tea for better “nourishing”. Therefore the taste of tea will be improved gradually after long-term brewing the same tea in the teapot. For these reasons, it shall not be washed using detergents, but rather water only.
