The Qinghua tea tray is made by fanggu clay (仿古泥) in Jingdezhen, which then turns subtle blueish-white after being fired under 1280℃-1300℃, feeling comfortable in the hands. It features a fine handpainted blue-red scene depicting mountains and their surrounding of spring manifesting how much time and patience were incorporated to work on it.
In comparison with normal qinghua porcelains, the tea tray is stunning with the underglaze red whose color is not easy to come out and retain on the porcelain under the high temperature without right and experienced treatment. Furthermore, the square tray is textured with traditional Chinese patterns at the four corners, giving it a vintage touch.
The tea tray has a length of 20cm and a width of 14.5cm, which is quite practical to hold a single teapot or gaiwan even with a teacup. Due to the flat bottom, it can’t hold too much liquid. If you really want to shower a teapot on it, only a time is available.
