These tea trays are hand engraved by an accomplished potter Mai Zibin, whose crafts are characterised by silver glazing and refined details. Based in Jingdezhen, Mai has devoted his time to breaking the rules of traditional crafting and developed a great trade-off between tradition and contemporary art. Another point to appreciate his work is how seriously he treats the details of potteries like the thickness of teapot or cups, pleasure to hold the teapots etc, which is aimed at improving the user experience. Thanks to the unique and inimitable crafting, Mai has had personal exhibitions in different cities around China so far.
Those tea trays are characterized by the various hand-engraving under silver glaze, full of contemporary touch, giving the great textural contrast. They are made from clay blended by Mai himself, giving those trays earthy appearance with multiple minor black speckles all round.
There are three tea trays available ranging in engraved details. Please refer to the photos to select the appearance matching your taste. For the sake of oxidization of silver glaze, we suggest the user clean the teapot in whole immediately after using instead of keeping overnight.
