The two cups are made by a female potter, Fan base in Jingdezhen, who has committed herself to study of Shino glaze for 7 years. Fan ’s potteries are characterized by patches of shiny green crystals in the surface created by her own blending of glaze.
The two cups are made with Shino glaze which colours each cup the mint-green with lovely crackles. They stand out for rare and valuable appearance which are covered by green almost in full with extremely little mess of color, while most items in this shino firing are dusted with other unpleasing matte colors throughout. With the glaze pooled at the bottom of the inside presenting emerald-like appearance and ridges etched into the surface, both cups have a subtle gradation of colours from dark to light green across the body.
Both cups hold approximately 100ml of liquid. With opening rim, each cup is easy to hold without the worry of heating fingers. The thick wall of the cup guarantees its ability to preserve the heat well.
