The tea cup is made by a young but talented potter ,FAFA from Jingdezheng, an influential pottery center in the world. His art of work is distinguished by obvious handmade marks because he mainly forms the potteries by pinching clay not throwing, with bumpy touch in hands. Looking through his work, it is easy to find that his potteries are extremely thin, lightweight and pleasant to hold throughout .
The teacup is formed in a way of pinching clay rather than throwing clay which are common in the market. It features flower-shaped appearance textured with petal pattern around the body, originally designed by FaFa himself. With the outside glazed in matte Burgundy and the inside speckled with brownish-black spots on the off-white, the cup presents perfect combination of the vintage and contemporary touch. The thin wall of the cup makes it lightweight and metal-like texture, while the shape of cup is pinched out slightly at the top . The base of the cup is golden with potter's signature, adding another layer of interest.
The teacup holds around 45ml of liquid. As during normal gongfu tea process, the tea poured out of teapot is estimated around 100ml -200ml depending on the size of teapot, we recommend pair ing the teacup with a fair cup to make sure no tea left in the teapot each pouring. With the rim pinched out, the tea cup is easy to hold and prevent the fingers from the heat.
