The zisha tea tray is made by Yu, a free potter based in Jingdezhen (check here to learn more about Yu).
Made of roughy clay, the tea tray is brushed with off-white slip glaze at the upper part , and matte black with a mottled effect of red (a kind of zisha) at the bottom offering significant textural and visual contrast. With the simple and clean design, the tray fits most of teapots or gaiwans. Moreover, the tray is able to hold a pot on both white and red sides depending on the style of pot.
The tray is approximately 16cm in diameter which is quite practical to hold a single teapot or gaiwan. It has some depth to hold roughly 100ml liquid , allowing you to shower your teapot one or two times.
