This set of teacups are made by Hu Ke in Jingdezhen, an important pottery centre in China. Hu used to be a media worker in his early career. However, with a passion about nature and countryside life growing gradually, Hu made up his mind to quit the well-developed media work and put his root in Jingdezhen to devote himself into wood firing where he is able to feel the truth of nature and life. Â
Those teacups are textured with the concentric circles across the body, giving it a stylish appearance. Being fired for 3 days and nights in the kiln, both cups are stunning with an interplay between metallic brown and brilliant purple, manifesting a nice visual and textural contrast. The greenish-yellow cracks significantly light up the whole cup, providing an aesthetics enhancement. The inside features brown drips with a speckled effect at the bottom.
Each teacup holds approximately 70ml liquid up to the rim with a thick wall which helps to retain the heat. Due to the one-of-a-kind result of the wood firing, the appearances of both cups vary slightly different.
