The side-handle zisha teapot is made of zhuni by Dilu Studio (check here to learn more about Dilu) in Jingdezhen. It is textured with the concentric circles around the grainy body, which are retained by the potter during the hand-throwing. Actually it is not common to see side-handle zisha teapot currently, needless to say, like this compact and cute one.

Despite a short side-handle which is unlike most of Kyushus, there is nothing wrong to hold the pot. In contrast, it offers pleasure to brew the tea surprisingly when the handle of pot is clamped between the index and middle finger with the thumb holding the top. Or you will find your way to make a smooth tea session based on your experience in using a Kyushu or teapot.

The teapot holds approximately 140ml of liquid with multi-holes ball filter, making it idea for both solo and sharing tea session. As Dilu studio puts the functionality into the first place of all their work, the excellent pouring of their teapots never ever lets us down which triggers our passion to work with them unsurprisingly.  As the teapot is formed by throwing instead of slab-building like most of yixing zisha teapots, it has a more porous texture, allowing to absorb tea and create patina more quickly.

Please note the teapot is not glazed on the inside , we suggest the user of the teapot devote it to a kind of tea for better “nourishing”. As the Zisha helps to retain heat well and facilitate the pleasing compounds released from the tea leaf, the taste of tea will be improved gradually after long-term brewing the same tea in the teapot. For these reasons, it shall not be washed using detergents, but rather water only.
