The wood-fired Qinghua teacup is made by fanggu clay (仿古泥) in Jingdezhen, which then turns subtle blueish-white after being fired under 1280℃-1300℃ for a few days straight of wood firing, feeling comfortable in the hands.
With a lovely shape, the qinghua teacup features an intricate handpainted blue-red scene which is treated well in fine details. The scene depicts four magpie birds are singing to welcome the coming of warm spring together in the branches as the script says on it, giving an impression of delight. Overall workmanship leaves nothing to wish for.
In comparison with normal qinghua porcelains, the teacup is stunning with the underglaze red whose color is not easy to come out and retain on the porcelain under the high temperature without right and experienced treatment.
The teacup holds approximately 100 ml of liquid up to the rim , making it ideal for an intimate tea session exclusive of a fair cup if you just want to simplify the session when you are more focusing on other things . As the rim is pinched out slightly , the teacup offers pleasure to hold and prevent the fingers from the heat.
